Despite what Gov. Martin O'Malley's new attack ad says, Bob Ehrlich has never been a lobbyist for the oil companies.

Bob Ehrlich did not raise tuition at the University of Maryland. Tuition is set by the Board of Regents, not the governor.

Perhaps Martin O'Malley's long time experience as a bar room singer of fanciful ballads to the Guinness-soaked and gullible has deluded him and his band (Friends of Martin O'Malley) into believing that he can intone to his constituency any fantasy that suits him. It is one thing for a singer in bars to extol dubious claims and speciously disparage, but as a public office holder, he should be brought to task when he attempts similar blarney, and his record of such official flights of fabrication should impel the public to view his assertions with a cynical eye.
