Speed cameras aren't a money grab? Prove it

Our government constantly states that the need for speed cameras is to save lives and not make money ("Sykesville rejects speed cameras," May 6). Here is a novel idea: When someone is caught speeding by the cameras, assess the driver one point on their driving record. This will cause their insurance to rise more than $40 and the same purpose will be fulfilled — safety. This will allow local governments to prove that they do care about our safety and not the money.
