Senior center makes West Towson special

Your March 26 article regarding America Online's choice of West Towson as the most desirable neighborhood for seniors in the nation ("West Towson area best for seniors") failed to mention one of its key attractions: The Bykota Senior Center. It is a vital multi-purpose senior center with over 2,000 members who attend classes, programs and activities ranging from the fine arts to a senior-friendly fitness center. Its purpose is to enhance, enrich and energize the lives of the seniors in this community.

As the recently retired programming manager for senior centers in Baltimore County, I can attest to its excellence and comprehensive programming for seniors with a multitude of opportunities for participation, volunteering and leadership that enables seniors to live their lives with dignity, enjoyment and purpose. Senior centers play a central role in providing a place for people 60 and above to stay active, engaged and healthy in their retirement years. The Bykota Senior Center exemplifies American Online's choice of West Towson as the No. 1 "dream retirement area" in the country.
