Of course it is easy to understand why the archdiocese needs to close schools for economical reasons. But one has to wonder why there was not more pre-planning so that students do not find out in March that their school is closing in June.

If I have read the news correctly, there are elementary students who were moved five years ago and now will face yet another transition before they graduate from the eighth grade. And my heart goes out to the students at Cardinal Gibbons, particularly the current juniors, who have been working diligently to be the leaders of the school and the star athletes but now must start all over again in a new situation.

In the future if schools need to be closed a few year's notice would help alleviate the pain.
