Your article concerning the state's decisions on slot machine vendors shows why government should not involve itself in business ("Purveyors of slots jockeying to cash in," Feb. 21). How long ago were slots approved and machines have not been contracted for?

The people fronting the money should know how to manage their business without the government being involved.

The group Gov. Martin O'Malley has choosen can't even award all the venues, and the state runs Rocky Gap.

It seems it is taking way too long, for a state in financial trouble to have a new revenue source.
