Reckless pedestrians, not trains, at fault

Trains operate on a "right of way," which refers to the tracks and roadbed. That is not a pedestrian area, and those who are foolish enough to flirt with a speeding locomotive pay the consequences. Mishaps rarely occur in Europe, where the railroad has a firm presence and people respect its operation. Some are quick to blame the railroad when the responsibility falls on the pedestrian. Stay off the tracks or you face the possibility of death or serious injury. That decision is on you, not the train which is operating in its own area.
