In reading the article "Lawmaker calls for special DUI plates" (Jan. 29), I find it hard to believe that anyone who has three DUI convictions still has a license. Driving isn't a right. It's a privilege. Why allow someone on the highway who has no regard for anyone but themselves? Are there really that many people in the General Assembly who think that drinking and driving is a good thing?
It's hard enough to drive on the highways in Maryland. Let's not allow drivers to advertise their inability to get help and show everyone that they have gotten away with DUI/DWI at least three times. Make it mandatory that they get help and can't have a license to drive until they prove they're capable of driving sober.
