Columnist Julius Witcover's obvious bias against anyone who is conservative or a member of the GOP renders his opinions of no value to readers. There was no reason for him to call George H.W. Bush a "quirky old man" and George W. Bush "flippant and arrogant" ("Jeb Bush tastes first success in 2016 nomination stakes," Feb. 6).
I don't hear Mr. Witcover calling Barack Obama flippant and arrogant, yet it's a label could be applied to the president without much objection from Congress.
You could also apply the term quirky to Mr. Witcover's favorite son, Vice President Joe Biden, whose ability to put his foot in his mouth remains unmatched.
The Sun needs to understand there are people in this blue state who are leaning a little to the right according to the results of our most recent gubernatorial election. As much as the paper may want to push a liberal agenda, it needs to be a little more centrist by finding some columnists to represent the other side too.
Hammering the public with the rantings of Mr. Witcover, as well as those of columnist Thomas F. Schaller, only amplifies the paper's liberal leanings and makes it unappealing to many readers. It is time for Mr. Witcover to retire.
