Reaching out to survivors

Thanks to Andrea K. McDaniels for her compassionate reporting on the trauma experienced by survivors of those who have been killed in violent crimes ("Relatives of Baltimore murder victims struggle with grief," Dec. 20). The collaborative effort in the Upton-Druid Heights area to support the children traumatized by such violence brings to mind the Baltimore City Family Bereavement Center which has operated since 1990 and was initiated by former State's Attorney Stuart Simms.

This pioneering program for the survivors of murder victims was designed by Dr. Rosetta Graham who served as the director through its first decade.
