Boycott I-95 toll lanes

Use of the Interstate 95 toll roads paid for with taxpayer money will cost taxpayers even more ("Eight miles of express lanes on I-95 set to open Dec. 6," Nov. 17). The reported cost of $3.50 per day amounts to $105 per month or $1,260 per year. If you use it twice a day, it presents like an annual income tax bill of $2,520.

These costs wind up in everyone's expense column, and someone has to pay to cover them. Yes, you are correct that "consumers" will pay increased prices for goods and services. Business owners and employees will want more money because of the costs to get around Baltimore.

Why is it that tax money managers in Maryland use our money to build infrastructure and then charge us tolls to use the very thing we just paid for? My fervent hope is that intelligent people will disdain the double taxation that is about to occur and not use these commuter toll lanes. We paid for those roads once. Let once be enough.
