Middle school triumph

The Sun recently ran an article concerning five eighth graders from a Howard County school that made it to the national level of a Verizon app contest ("Lime Kiln mobile app concept receives 'Best in Nation' award," Feb. 4). They won more than $20,000 for their school.

I was surprised that an achievement as great as this did not appear more prominently in the print edition of the newspaper. As a retired educator, I am tired of reading the negative articles concerning what goes on in the schools. This wonderful news about the hard work of these five young ladies certainly deserves to be shared with all readers not just those in Howard County or those who read the on-line edition.
