Give the winners their due

Why does The Sun's sports department constantly report on which team "lost" the championship rather than which team won?

Recently, there were three such reports in the sports headlines: For the soccer state championships — "Howard girls lose in 4-A final, 1-0."

Yet undefeated Walt Whitman actually won the game. Why not mention them in the headline?

For the Class 3A Girls Volleyball State Championship — "No. 3 Glenelg swept by North Hagerstown."

Why isn't that headline "North Hagerstown sweeps Glenelg?"

And for the Class 4A Boys Soccer State Championship — "No. 5 Chesapeake-AA falls, 4-1." Again, Walt Whitman won the game. Why aren't they in the headline?

I have no affiliation with any of these schools, but give some credit to the winners. They deserve the headlines.
