Granted, he is famous, has lots of money and a supportive mother. Yet he appears to lack direction and a real connection in his life away from swimming.
The best lesson for Mr. Phelps from this latest ordeal is for a judge to order him to perform community service. He would then have the opportunity to develop some structure, time management and decision-making skills in a different venue than a swimming pool.
