The state Board of Education has upheld the school board's decision to suspend a 7 year old for fashioning a gun from a pastry ("State board upholds decision to suspend student in pastry incident," March 4).
Yes, each of us should be held accountable for our actions. It's like a "golden rule" of responsibility. But a 7-year-old child? What about the parent's role in such matters? Wouldn't they be better to send the message to the child? Just who's ox is the school board goring?
Oh, and while I'm at it, how about a wee bit of that "accountability" from our legislature for the fiscal condition of state government?
