The greatest threat to the U.S. from a Republican controlled Congress is a neoconservative foreign policy that will result ("The Republican agenda," Jan. 6). Pro-war, pro-empire, pro-Israel, unending U.S. wars against all of Israel's enemies, no matter the cost in blood and treasure. The Republican hawks — Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, etc., have learned nothing from the disastrous and unnecessary Iraq War, referred to as one of our nation's worst military blunders.
The hawks are already plotting to destroy the nuclear talks between the West and Iran by voting for even harsher sanctions on Iran. What they really want is war with Iran in order to appease Israel and its powerful lobby. Last week, Senator Graham was in Israel and said "I'm here to tell you, Mr. Netanyahu, that the Congress will follow your lead on Iran." For a United States senator to allow a foreign leader to drag us into war is nothing short of treason against America. We should be very fearful of the new Republican controlled Congress.
