What a terrible message University of Maryland President Wallace Loh is sending to students ("UM approves beer at sporting events," June 11). The school should be encouraging fun without substances, not creating a situation in which alcohol will doubtless be more available to those under 21.
The campus should be an alcohol and smoke-free place because it is illegal and unhealthy for people under 21 to consume alcohol in Maryland. Can't alumni and adults enjoy college sports events without alcohol? This is just a ridiculous idea and seems very irresponsible.
