I write in response to Charlotte Eliopoulos' criticism of Dan Rodricks and the other "older guys" on the bus who did not confront the young guy who threw a McDonald's bag into the street ("Littering comes down to a question of attitude," Dec. 14). Someone needs to remind her that it is not 1954, it's 2014.
As she noted, Mr. Rodricks may have gotten a flippant response or a finger gesture. But he may also have gotten a bullet in the side of the head. They did what they had to do to in not confronting the punk.
