Kamenetz not trustworthy on pensions

Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz is at it again trying to pull the wool over the eyes of citizens ("County's liability could top $19 million," Dec. 10).

He knew for a month before the election that the Supreme Court had decided not to hear the county's case involving pensions for county workers.

The election is over and the County Council is now informed. Yet during the entire election run-up, Mr. Kamenetz bragged about not raising taxes his entire term knowing the county was exposed to a huge financial problem. There are three ways to resolve his problem, and one is an increase in taxes.

When he says he didn't raise taxes during his last term, he is on a slippery slope because property tax payments were actually raised thanks to reassessments on property and Mr. Kamenetz not reducing the tax rate to the constant yield.

I guess he did not hear the taxpayers and voters in November. Stop lying to us, treat us fairly and stop all the flim-flam when it comes to taxes.

Any competent executive facing this magnitude of exposure would have set aside money to cover a potential loss, but not Mr. Kamenetz. I guess he is not competent or was just trying to pull the wool over our eyes to get re-elected.
