A new day in Annapolis?

Thanks to The Sun for all those who wrote so many kind perspectives on Larry Hogan, our new governor ("Hogan pledges culture of 'tolerance and mutual respect' in Annapolis," Jan. 21).

Perhaps it is time to remind our elected officials that their most important job is to represent all citizens.

Now may be the time to diminish the separation of the two parties and focus on what needs to be done to have an effective, efficient legislature.

What has been achieved by the federal government when the two parties don't work together? Not much.

Maryland has the opportunity to lead the way to stop the partisan mentality and apply common sense to achieve common goals.
