The newspaper that did not endorse Larry Hogan for governor never stops giving advice to Mr. Hogan and Republicans ("Hogan's fringe flank," Jan. 13). According to The Sun, the "divisive wing" of the Republican Party could get in the way of developing a centrist agenda of fiscal conservatism and economic growth.
The only obstacle that stands in the way of any such agenda is the Democratic Party and the far left wing of that party that is predominant in the Maryland legislature, egged on by their cheerleaders at The Sun. We are already seeing daily reports of Democratic Party interest groups complaining about possible budget cuts. Expect that chorus to become a shout down once Mr. Hogan's budget is presented.
We can then expect The Sun to proclaim repeatedly that the new governor is unfair and austere. Maryland is in the current condition not because of any extremists in the Republican Party but because of problems with the other folks.
