Goats not baa-d groundskeepers

I was thrilled to read about the goats eating the English ivy at Towson ("At Towson University, goats deliver weed-control lesson," Nov. 24). I drive by the Towson campus daily and have seen the ivy taking over the trees there. English ivy is a horrible scourge. Some of the vines are bigger than my wrist, and it is devastating to trees. I hope that homeowners read this article and cut the ivy from their trees.

Kudos to Baltimore Gas and Electric and PepsiCo for funding this project. Since BGE does so much tree work, they could include ivy removal in the cleanup. Thanks for the article, it made my day.
