In a democracy law, not religion, rules

Although our country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, our laws are not the Ten Commandments or the teachings of Jesus, Buddha or Muhammad ("With defiant clerk Kim Davis jailed, gay Kentucky couple gets marriage license," Sept. 4).

The bedrock of our democracy is the rule of law. Our laws are what makes our society work. If our elected officials do not want to follow the laws of this country, they should resign and seek employment elsewhere.
