Consider the good side of football, too [Letter]

Football provides an exhilarating athletic experience for many that teaches teamwork, strategy, discipline and resilience in the face of adversity. It often gets kids out of trouble or off the couch from playing video games. For many people, other sports or severely watered down football is not compelling to the participant or the viewer.

All of this should be weighed as part of the future fate of football.

Football is under more scrutiny than driving. In 2010, there were an estimated 5.4 million vehicle crashes, killing 32,885 and injuring 2.2 million people. Getting behind the wheel may actually be more dangerous than football.
