End of Senate filibuster marks end of equality [Letter]

In the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence it specifically states that "all men are created equal." My fellow Democrats in the U.S. Senate did the unthinkable when they changed the filibuster (cloture) rules. They erected the ultimate fence in favor of Democrats and against the rest of the citizens of the United States.

The Democrats now have opened our judicial system to suspicion. Will the letter of the laws of our land apply equally if you are a Republican or independent? Republican political opposition can no longer block judicial nominees.

The late Robert Byrd, a Democrat and long-serving senator from West Virginia, wrote many of the parliamentary changes 20-plus years ago to upset Republicans, and now they frustrate the Democrats. It is not cloture that needed changing.

What previously passed as a judicial nominee will now be a judicial appointee. The Democrats have the voting majority in the Senate so the only outcome will be Democratic judges.

Americans should look at what Democrats have done recently, not what they are saying. Politics, first, last and always by Democrats. If you are not a Democrat or not a good enough Democrat, how will you be treated?

Alas, all men are no longer equal. Be very afraid, America. Be very afraid for our country and our progeny.
