Farrakhan should pipe down

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan needs to shut his pie hole ("Speaking at Morgan, Farrakhan predicts violence in Ferguson," Nov. 22). Mr. Farrakhan's modus operandi is to instill hatred aimed at Caucasians and Jews into his rants. What he has done, in effect, is to set the race relations issue in America back a few decades.

He is the antithesis of all Martin Luther King Jr. stood for. Do we really need the likes of him in America? He is a poser for Nation of Islam. I deem him a sham, a self-serving, self-important leader devoid of either filters or moral compass.

For Mr. Farrakhan to tell the people of Ferguson, Mo. that violence is acceptable in the wake of Michael Brown's death is simply reprehensible. The Nation of Islam is devoid of a clear agenda, so Mr. Farrakhan must depend on pushing the emotional buttons to incite people to violence. I know of no other American religious leader who so willingly wants the war of the races to play out. Conversely, Mr. Farrakhan is salivating at the thought of it.

Folks of all colors will find Mr. Farrakhan's rants to be hollow, spurious and lacking real substance. People of reason will simply circumvent him as their racial bellwether.

Grow up, Mr. Farrakhan. Loosen that bow tie, the starched shirt, drop the anti-Caucasian/Jewish denouncements shtick and seek a more positive, substantive rant.
