I'm a native Baltimorean. My maternal grandmother bought the house I'm living in new in 1904, although at that time, it was in Baltimore County. I'm a product of the Baltimore City Public School System and taught in Baltimore for 36 years.
For more than 50 years, our voting citizens have kept one political party in power — the Democratic Party. Each election, new promises and change for the better was always coming. All of us are still waiting.
Why don't we hear our elected officials now? Can any of them explain what they have been doing with the power and money they have been entrusted with? Will we once again vote the same ones in again and again ("After unrest, GOP looks to make inroads in city," June 11)?
