It's interesting that Rep. Elijah Cummings has been doing everything in his power to block the investigation into IRS abuses regarding the tea party even as evidence surfaced indicating his staff made inquiries into one such organization ("House panel votes to hold ex-IRS officer in contempt," April 11).
Furthermore, the information may have been shared with the IRS leading to additional scrutiny of that organization, which only recently — and more than three years after its application was filed — was granted the tax-exempt status it sought.
It is also been reported that the president of the targeted organization filed an ethics complaint against Mr. Cummings earlier this year.
One must ask whether this is the type of representation that Maryland's Seventh Congressional District deserves. Not in my view.
