Wrong to defend CIA on torture

Many of those most unhappy with the recent report criticizing CIA interrogation methods consider themselves loyal Americans and religious. Perhaps it is time they reconsider their unwarranted defense of the CIA ("Release of CIA torture report is an outrage," Dec. 10).

The Constitution is clear that cruel and unusual punishment is wrong. The Golden Rule speaks of not doing to others what you would not have them do to you. The CIA violated both standards.
