Sen. Ben Cardin will be the top Democrat on the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee ("Cardin named top-ranking Democrat on Senate small biz committee Dec. 29) If the Democrats take the Senate back in 2016, he will chair the committee. By the way, this committee defines small business as 500 employees or less. That includes 99.9 percent of businesses!
The National Federal of Independent Business actually lobbies for businesses from one employee and up. They rate our Congress people every year. Senator Cardin had eight senators rated below him in the 112th Congress and he had a score of zero in the 113th Congress. In case your math isn't so good, it makes him the 92nd most favorable Senator toward business in the 112th and tied for dead last in the 113th.
This is Senator Cardin's long dismal history toward business. If Senator Cardin is ever chair of this committee (a scary thought) do not expect any favorable laws toward business. He is such an illogical choice for this committee that you have to think the Democratic party wants businesses to fail in the coming Congress. Is there any other conclusion?
