Speed cameras didn't make streets any safer

I enjoyed your recent article on the statistics regarding pedestrian accidents during and after the use of speed cameras ("Even with speed cameras off, no pedestrians injured in school zones," Dec. 19).

Of course, if the year's data were reversed, the City Council would want to double the number of cameras in order to reduce the slaughter on the roads.

Now everyone knows that the devices made no difference regarding pedestrian safety and that the cameras were only used for revenue enhancement.
