Jeb ignores root cause of ISIS

Jeb Bush must be smoking something for him to make the statements he made at an Americans for Peace, Prosperity and Security conference ("Bush defends brother's actions as 43rd president Aug. 14). His statement, "In 2009, Iraq was fragile but secure" is an absolute lie. After bombing Iraq and destroying her total infrastructure, roads, electric power, water and sewerage services, we had totally destabilized the country.

Although President Saddam Hussein did some horrendous things, his actions cannot compare to our killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens. And rather than blaming Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama for the aftermath of our war and the rise of the terrorists in the Middle East, Mr. Bush and the Republican leadership have conveniently wiped out the real reason for the conflict and devastation over there: the use of 9/11 as a ruse by former President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney's which eventually caused the rise of ISIS, et al. The Republican Party needs to call a spade a spade.
