Planned Parenthood's deceptive advertising

Your recent editorial spoke about a new "truth-in-advertising" law requiring pregnancy centers to post signage regarding a specific service they will not provide, namely abortion ("Signs of abortion rights," July 11). When was the last time you promoted your business by stating the services you will not provide?

Ironically, Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, is not required to explicitly state that it provides abortion services. Its name implies that it helps people become parents, but its practice is to prevent parenthood, either through contraception or through abortion.

According to the Alan Guttmacher institute, over 50 percent of the abortions performed by Planned Parenthood are done for women who were using contraception during the month they conceived. Could it be the condoms they hand out to our youth under the guise of "Safe Sex" campaigns is also misleading? Condoms do sometimes fail, particularly when they are used incorrectly.

It seems to me Planned Parenthood is really in the business of promoting sexual promiscuity by misleading youth into having sex so they can be the go-to place for the "planned destruction" of parenthood. Come on America — demand some real truth-in-advertising laws on the businesses that are actively seeking to deceive and destroy.
