But politics wasn't the only arena in which Mrs. Otenasek excelled. After 14 years of teaching political economy at Trinity College in Washington, D.C., and two years at Mount St. Agnes College in Baltimore, she would guide students through economics and political science at Notre Dame from 1956 until 1979, when she retired from full-time teaching. During her tenure, Mrs. Otenasek brought a number of prominent politicians onto the campus to address her class, including Rep. Parren J. Mitchell, U.S. Sen. Charles McC. Mathias and Baltimore Mayor and Maryland Gov. William Donald Schaefer.
