William Weisman, heating engineer

William Weisman (Baltimore Sun)

William J. Weisman, who founded a heating and air conditioning testing business, died of heart failure Dec. 29 at his Royal Oak home. The former Glen Arm resident was 86.

Born in Baltimore and raised on Poultney Street in Federal Hill, he was the son of Raymond F. Weisman, who made soda fountain confections, and Mary Chalmers Shaw Weisman, a homemaker. He was a 1946 graduate of Polytechnic Institute. He earned a business degree at the University of Maryland, College Park and a degree in engineering from the Johns Hopkins University.

Mr, Weisman worked for the engineering firms Lloyd E. Mitchell Inc. and Henry Adams Inc. before opening Weisman Inc., an HVAC testing and balancing firm in 1965. The firm is now located on Providence Road in Towson.

Mr. Weisman was a past president of the Associated Air Balance Council and the Baltimore Chapter of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration Air Conditioning Engineers. He was associated with Chesapeake Testing and Balancing Engineers in Easton.

He moved to Royal Oak in 1992.

A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Michael Roman Catholic Chapel, 109 Lincoln Ave., in St. Michaels.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Beatrice J. Tutchton, a retired Baltimore County special-education teacher; three sons, Christian Weisman of Easton, Joseph Weisman of Timonium and David Weisman of Royal Oak; a daughter, Mary Lisa Kilby of Chestertown; and 12 grandchildren.
