Thomas Robert Lindos, a retired First Home Mortgage loan officer and a continuing education teacher for the Harford County Association of Realtors, died of cancer Dec. 25 at Gilchrist Hospice Care. He was 64 and lived in the Village of Cross Keys.
Born in Baltimore and raised in Towson, he was a 1965 City College graduate. He earned a business degree from the University of Baltimore.
As a young man, he worked in sales and marketing and became a mortgage banker at First Home on York Road in Towson. He also taught mortgage to real estate salespeople.
"Others might spend 45 minutes presenting mortgage information to clients, but Tom would spend 21/2 hours explaining," said a friend, Bill Heffernan of Stevenson. "He was always willing to go the extra mile."
In 1979, Baltimore Magazine named him one of its "Top Singles." The article noted that he liked to read history and novels.
"Tom was always impeccably put together, and he looked like a movie star," said Rosanna Best Corbin of Owings Mills, the daughter of Lindos' life partner of nearly eight years, Annlynn Best of Cross Keys.
Mr. Lindos was a member of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered at Immaculate Conception in Towson on Dec 30.
In addition to Best and Best Corbin, survivors include a sister, Maryann Ungar of Owings Mills, and a grandson.
