Russell A. Scott, a retired truck driver and Army veteran, died May 8 of esophageal cancer at his North East home. He was 56.
The son of John Norman Scott and Shirley Fike Denmeyer, Russell Alan Scott was born in Wilmington, Del., and later moved with his family to Baltimore. He was a 1977 graduate of what was then Eastern Vocational-Technical High.
He served in the Army for a decade, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. Until retiring last year, he drove a truck for 30 years for Price Trucking Co. and Tipton Trucking Co.
Mr. Scott was an avid Ravens fan and liked to travel, play golf and listen to country music.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, 150 S. Queen St., Rising Sun.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife of 17 years, the former Patricia Hallowell; three daughters, Debbie L. Scott, Brooke M. Murphy and Sarah H. Murphy, all of North East; his mother, Shirley Fike Denmeyer of Parkville; a brother, Norman E. Scott of Baltimore; two sisters, Diana Scott Hoppart and Anna Marie Denmeyer, both of Parkville; a granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, the former Josephine Riley.
