Robert Alexander "Sandy" Goll, a retired city public school educator who was active in Scouting, died March 12 of sleep apnea at his Rodgers Forge home.
He was 63.
The son of a manufacturing executive and a homemaker, Mr. Goll was born in Baltimore and raised in Stoneleigh.
After graduating from McDonogh School in 1967, he earned a bachelor's degree in 1973 from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt.
Mr. Goll taught mathematics for 30 years at Roland Park Middle School and Chinquapin Middle School, from which he retired in 2007.
Mr. Goll, who had earned Eagle Scout status when he was 17, had been active in Baltimore Scouting circles for 55 years.
He had been Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 612 at Grace United Methodist Church for 28 years. He also had been waterfront and aquatics director at Broadcreek Memorial Scout Reservation in Harford County.
He also had been wood badge course director and had been awarded the Silver Beaver Award for his years of work with the Scouts.
He was a member of Concordia Masonic Lodge No.13.
He was a history buff and an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed traveling.
Mr. Goll was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where services were held March 16.
Surviving are two sisters, Suzanne P. Reinke of Rehoboth Beach, Del., and Amy L. Pflaum of Stoneleigh; and several nieces and nephews.
