Richard Henry Renoff, a retired electrical sales and engineering representative, died March 4 at the University of Maryland Medical Center of complications after falling on ice. The Severna Park resident was 93.
Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Henry J. Renoff, who owned a hardware store, and Mary E. Snyder, a homemaker. He was raised on East 28th Street near Clifton Park and was a 1939 graduate of City College. He joined the Navy during World War II, serving in Algeria and Hawaii.
After his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Baltimore.
Mr. Renoff was an engineering and sales representative for electrical manufacturers with Renoff Associates, a business founded by family members at 211 N. Calvert St. that later moved to East 25th Street in Charles Village.
He retired initially in the early 1960s. He returned to work and retired a second time about 1980.
In 1943, he married Carolyn Virginia Imberger, whom he met at a dance.
The couple built a home in Anne Arundel County's Hollywood on the Severn in 1948. They worked alongside each other, and entertained friends and relatives on weekends.
He was a charter member of Chartwell Golf and Country Club and belonged to the Severna Park Elks Lodge and the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge.
Mr. Renoff enjoyed ballroom dancing and bridge. He took more than 70 cruises.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 400 Benfield Road, where he was a member.
Mr. Renoff is survived by his daughter, Rhonda R. Moore of Stevensville; and three granddaughters. His wife of 66 years died in 2009. The couple also cared for a nephew, Ronald Renoff, of Severna Park.
