Paul F. Spigelmire, a Lutherville real estate agent, died June 16 of an apparent heart attack while vacationing in Indonesia. He was 61.
Mr. Spigelmire, who was visiting a daughter who is a Foreign Service officer, was snorkeling off the shores of Dili, Timor-Leste, when he was stricken.
"They think it was a heart attack that caused him to drown," said his wife of 33 years, the former Roslyn Strennen.
Paul Francis Spigelmire was born in Baltimore and raised in Homeland. He attended the old Mount Washington Country School for Boys and graduated in 1969 from Calvert Hall College High School.
He earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Baltimore and worked for 12 years at John S. Connor Inc., a family-owned customs broker and freight-forwarding company.
In 1980, he became a sales representative for Mutual of New York Life Insurance Co., and four years later joined CNA Insurance in a similar capacity.

Mr. Spigelmire earned a real estate license and since 2006 had worked in real estate sales at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage's Greenspring office.
The Lutherville resident was president of the Shetland Hills Community Association, and he had coached his daughters' Lutherville-Timonium Recreation Center softball teams.
An outdoorsman, Mr. Spigelmire enjoyed sport fishing in Maryland and Florida. He was also a hiker and volunteered his time repairing and maintaining the Appalachian Trail through the Appalachian Trail Conservation Society.
He liked visiting beaches, especially Ocean City, Key West, Fla., and Hawaii, family members said.
Mr. Spigelmire was a communicant, lector and a member of the Adult Education Committee at the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Roman Catholic Church, 20 E. Ridgely Road, Timonium, where a memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Spigelmire is survived by two daughters, Kimberly Bostwick of Indonesia and Rebecca Spigelmire of Baltimore; a brother, Timothy McNamara of Ruxton; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
