Patricia F. "Patti" Schall, a retired property manager who enjoyed cooking and entertaining, died Monday of cancer at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson. She was 66 and lived in Homeland.
The daughter of Percy Williams Schall Jr., an insurance executive, and Ruth Fanseen Schall, a homemaker, Patricia Fanseen Schall was born in Baltimore and raised in Homeland.
Ms. Schall was a 1966 graduate of St. Paul's School for Girls, where she had been an outstanding lacrosse player. In 2012, she was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame.
In 1968, she earned an associate's degree in liberal arts from Southern Seminary Junior College in Buena Vista, Va.
After college, she worked for several years as a secretary at Johns Hopkins Hospital's Wilmer Eye Institute. She later was office manager for Michael Yerman Real Estate, now Yerman Witman Gaines & Conklin Realty.
For a decade until retiring in 2000, Ms. Schall managed the Stevenson Lane Apartments in Towson, where she was "beloved by the tenants," said a cousin, Carole Aine Langrall of Santa Fe, N.M.
Ms. Schall was an accomplished cook who had a particular fondness for old family recipes, family members said. She enjoyed entertaining and decorating her home for the holidays.
"As far as I'm concerned, she made the best chicken salad in the world and she was very proud of it," said Ms. Langrall. "Everyone knew her for that."
She also liked gardening and flower arranging.
Ms. Schall was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, 5407 N. Charles St., where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 1.
In addition to Ms. Langrall, she is survived by an aunt and four other cousins.
