Mary Lou Pahl, bank teller

Mary Lou Pahl, a retired bank teller and former longtime Rockdale resident, died Wednesday of Alzheimer's disease at Brightview Westminster Ridge in Westminster. She was 86.

The former Mary Lou Hartman was born in Baltimore and raised in Rockdale. She was a graduate of Catonsville High School. In 1945, she married George Harman Pahl.

From the late 1960s until the early 1990s when she retired, Mrs. Pahl was a bank teller at the Savings Bank of Baltimore.

Mrs. Pahl, who moved to Eldersburg a decade ago, enjoyed going to flea markets. She also designed and made jewelry that she sold at various flea markets.

She was a member for many years of the old St. James Lutheran Church in Rockdale, whose congregation merged with another Lutheran church.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Burrier Queen Funeral Home, 1212 W. Liberty Road, Sykesville.

In addition to her husband, a retired Glyndon Lord Baltimore Cleaners manager, Mrs. Pahl is survived by two sons, Donald R. Pahl and Mark Pahl, both of Sykesville; a sister, Helen Arndt of Campfield; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
