Marjorie Gwendolyn Robinson, a homemaker and teacher who also sold real estate, died Sept. 9 of complications from dementia at a Decatur, Ill. nursing facility.
The former West Baltimore resident was 96.
Marjorie Gwendolyn Hudson was born in Nogales, Ariz. She was the daughter of William and Willia Mae Hudson.
She earned a degree at the University of Arizona.
She met Charles H. Robinson, an Air Force mechanic and standout Baltimore athlete who had attended Frederick Douglass High School, at the Davis-Montham Air Force Base near Tucson, Ariz., during World War II. They married in 1945.
The couple moved to Baltimore and lived on Dukeland Street. Mrs. Robinson resided there until 2011. Other family members continue to live at the family home.
Mrs. Robinson taught early childhood education for the Baltimore school system in the 1960s and 1970s.
She later sold real estate for Otis Warren Century 21.
Her husband of 43 years, a Charles Nusinov watchmaker, died in 1988.
"My mother preferred to travel by train when visiting family around the country but would occasionally fly," said a daughter, Carol Robinson of Lake City, Colo. "After 9/11, she would request a wheelchair to get pushed around security and lines. At luggage claim, she would hop out of the chair, grab her bags and walk off."
She was a member of the Union Memorial United Methodist Church in Baltimore.
Private services were held at the Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery.
In addition to her daughter, survivors include another daughter, Charlesetta Robinson of Decatur, Ill.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A daughter, Patricia Robinson, died in 2007.
