Iris E. Moskowitz, a retired medical administrator who enjoyed gardening, died Oct. 10 at Sinai Hospital of complications from Alzheimer's disease. She was 81.
Iris Elizabeth Rayfield was the daughter of Percy Rayfield, a Bethlehem Steel steelworker, and Esther Rayfield, a seamstress.
She born in Baltimore and raised on Groveland Avenue.
After graduating from Forest Park High School, she earned a degree in education from what is now Towson University, then a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University.
Ms. Moskowitz had worked as a nursery school teacher and later became a medical administrator at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She retired several years ago.
The former longtime resident of Menlo Drive in Northwest Baltimore enjoyed gardening, walking and dining out.
A resident of Brookdale Senior Living in Pikesville since 2014, she was a member of Baltimore Hebrew Congregation.
Ms. Moskowitz donated her body to the Maryland Anatomy Board, family members said.
No services are planned.
She is survived by a son, Adam Moskowitz of Chelmsford, Mass.; a sister, Lyle Rayfield of Tucson, Ariz.; and a niece. A marriage to Robert Moskowitz ended in divorce.
