Dorothy Dorsey "Dottie" Bair, a longtime resident of the Baltimore area, died of a heart attack Monday at University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center.

The Ruxton resident was 86.

Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., she was the daughter of George Brent Dorsey and Jessie Twyman Dorsey. She was a 1949 graduate of the Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, Pa., and earned a bachelor's degree in English from Goucher College.

While in college, she met her future husband, Robert R. Bair, who became a partner at the law firm then known as Venable, Baetjer and Howard. They were married in 1957 and lived in Ruxton.

Mrs. Bair enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Maryland.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 1401 Carrollton Ave., where she was a parish volunteer and a former bookkeeper.

In addition to her husband of 64 years, survivors include three daughters, Bettie B. Pomeroy of Wilson, Wyo., Louisa B. Bair of Charlottesville, Va. and Roberta Bair Watts of Pasadena, Anne Arundel County; and four grandchildren.
