Carl H. Boehme, machine shop foreman, dies

Carl H. Boehme, a retired machine shop foreman and longtime Millersville resident, died Friday from complications of Alzheimer's disease at Anne Arundel Medical Center.

He was 89.

Mr. Boehme was born and raised in Washington, where he graduated in 1940 from Central High School. Because of medical conditions, he was exempt from military service during World War II.

He worked for 37 years for the Department of the Army as a machinist. At the time of his retirement in 1980, he was foreman of the Army's machine shop at Glen Echo.

His wife of 39 years, the former Margaret Lucille Garner, died in 2002.

He was an avid duckpin bowler, gardener and poker player. He also enjoyed traveling by ship and was a Redskins and Capitals fan.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barranco & Sons Funeral Home, 495 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park.

Surviving are two sons, Paul J. Boehme of Millersville and Michael H. Boehme of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; a daughter, Lisa Ann Boehme of Annapolis; and four grandchildren.
