Beatrice B. Eisenhardt, registered nurse, dies

Beatrice B. Eisenhardt, a retired registered and private-duty nurse, died Aug. 21 of complications from a stroke at Gilchrist Hospice Care in Towson.

The longtime Lutherville resident was 90.

The daughter of a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad locomotive engineer and a homemaker, Beatrice Baldwin was born and raised in Keyser, W.Va. She was a great-great-great-great niece of President James Madison and his wife, Dolley.

After graduating from Keyser High School in 1938, she earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Maryland.

She was working during World War II as a nurse at the old Glenn L. Martin Co. plant in Middle River when she met William J. Eisenhardt. They married in 1941.

Mrs. Eisenhardt retired from private-duty nursing in 1983.

She enjoyed playing badminton at her Lutherville home, attending Baltimore Opera Company performances and Bach Concert Series, and vacationing in Ocean City.

She also liked attending Hite and Madison family reunions.

Her husband, who had owned and operated the Florence Silver Plate Co., a century-old family business on East Lombard Street, died in 1968.

Mrs. Eisenhardt was a longtime communicant of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Lutherville.

Plans for a memorial service are incomplete.

Surviving are two sons, John T. Eisenhardt of Lutherville and Dr. William B. Eisenhardt of Mission Vilejo, Calif.; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
