Barbara J. "Barb" Storck, a retired manager of a Carroll County liquor store who was also a pet lover, died from cancer April 21 at Carroll Hospice's Dove House in Westminster. She was 68.
The daughter of Donald Hopkins, a construction supervisor, and Betty Hopkins, a homemaker, Barbara Jane Hopkins was born in Baltimore and raised in Glyndon and Lutherville.
She was a 1966 graduate of Dulaney High School.
Ms. Storck had worked as a dental assistant and model. Her retail career included managing the Dr. Pet store in Westminster and Country Liquors, also in Westminster, from which she retired in the late 1980s.
The longtime Westminster resident enjoyed arts and crafts and gardening. She was an animal lover, and family members said she rescued dogs and cats and found new homes for them.
A celebration of Ms. Storck's life will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. May 15 at Bennett Cerf Park, Random House Drive, Westminster.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas "Mark" Storck Sr., a construction foreman, of Westminster; a son, Thomas Storck of Gettysburg, Pa.; two daughters, Laurie Hoare of Westminster and Tara Scarpignato of Middletown; her father, Donald Hopkins, and stepmother, Virginia Hopkins, of Westminster; two sisters, Bettie "Janie" Beyer of Upperco and Kendal Yohn of Aspers, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
