Station North bulks up

The Station North Arts and Entertainment District continued its rise as one of Baltimore’s blossoming arts showcases with a trio of projects. In July, the Centre Theatre building opened just east of Charles Street, offering a mix of commercial and, thanks to expanded film programs being offered by the John Hopkins University and Maryland Institute College of Art, academic space. In October, Maryland Film Festival officials feted North Avenue’s 100-year-old Parkway Theatre, soon to be home to the MFF’s $17 million Stavros Niarchos Foundation Film Center. And in November, the Baltimore Arts Realty Corp. started leasing studio space in the refurbished former Load of Fun building, at North and Maryland avenues.
