Flood warning issued for Howard and Carroll counties

A flood warning has been issued for south central Carroll County and northwestern Howard County until 11 p.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

That means flooding is imminent or occurring. One to 2 inches of rain had already fallen by 5 p.m., and up to an additional inch of rain is expected.

Locations singled out for flooding include Eldersburg, Sykesville, Poplar Springs, Roxbury Mills, Lisbon, Glenwood, Woodbine, Gaither and Watersville.

NWS reminds people to “turn around, don’t drown,” as most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
