Rain showers likely Wednesday with highs in lower 40s

Cold rain showers are expected Wednesday with highs in the lower 40s and wind chills in the 30s.

An 80 percent chance of rain was expected, most likely in the afternoon hours. Less than a quarter of an inch of rainfall was expected.

Winter weather advisories were in effect in Frederick, Washington and Allegany counties with concerns of freezing rain, but temperatures were expected to be above freezing in Central Maryland.

Temperatures were forecast to start off in the mid-30s in the morning, rising only a few degrees to the lower 40s. A 10 mph northeast wind was expected to make it feel several degrees colder.

Clouds were expected to clear out and temperatures to rise into the upper 50s for the first day of spring Thursday, and again Friday, with lows in the 30s and 40s.

Clouds were expected to return Friday night into Saturday, with highs Saturday in the upper 50s and Sunday in the upper 40s.
